Local Hero: Dr. T.
Dr. T. has been in practice in Pensacola for almost
seven years, volunteering his skills almost from the beginning. Although both
he and his partner, Dr. C., are active in several charitable
organizations.
Dr. T. remains a big fan of DDS. “It really
makes you feel like you’ve made a difference,” he says. “You know these people
are truly in need. What I really like about DDS is that we can see the patients
in our office. We’re able to use the equipment and the staff we’re familiar
with. It enables us to give them better
care, and it makes it a lot nicer for them as well as for us.” Recently, Dr.
T. treated a woman in her 80s with poorly fitting dentures. “When she was
finished with all of the adjustments, she brought me a painting that she had
done,” Dr. T. recalls. “It turns out that in her younger days she was a
fairly accomplished painter. I keep that painting on the wall, and every time I
see it, it humbles me a little bit. It reminds me that it’s not just a responsibility
to give back to people in need, but that it’s very, very fulfilling. I thank
God every day for the skills that he’s blessed me with, and I’m happy to share
those skills with people who are truly needy.”
